I never knew that vines could find their targets by scent. I thought they just grew wherever they happened to be. This is probably interesting news for farmers battling the dodder vine. I wonder if they perfume the tomato plant to smell like wheat, the vine will not go to it.

That is amazing. I know it is foolish to relate everything to the human race, but this plant is like our race because they can smell, if that's what they are actually doing. They could be just sensing a certain organism inside of the tomato plant that the dodder vine is attracted to. I doubt that the plants would be able to smell, being that they have nothing to process the smell. That's a really interesting concept to think about.
