I thought this article was very interesting. How they found kelp forests near the Galapagos Islands. It was too bad how both ROV's had malfunctions. Funny how Graham couldn't use technology he just had to jump in the water himself to make his discovery. Why did he need ROV's in the first place? He was being too sophisticated.
That's so interesting! Finding something in an area where you didn't expect to find it is always cool. I agree with laura. I feel like everything is being done by robots, though the technology is cool. All these robots make humans seem really lazy. I mean, we have them for almost everything, especially in the science field. The article had a good point. It's awesome that we're finding kelp in a place in the Philippines that nobody knew about. But why did the person who speculated about finding the kelp in the Philippines keep it to him/herself? Was he afraid of getting laughed at? Or did he want to make sure that his speculation could be proved before he told anyone?
I agree with Bea. Discovering new things is always important, whether good or bad. I have been to the Galapagos Island, and It is so rich with plants and animals, so I wouldn't be surprised that there's kelp there. I also agree with Laura because doing some things the old-fashion way helps sometimes, and we shouldn't be as lazy as we are. I thought of two things that this author forgot to explain: Why nitrogen helps plants and why nitrogen is only in colder water, but for all I know, this could be complicated enough that they would need another article to explain it. This was a great article and I congradulate the scientist who made this spectacular new discovery.
