That is amazing! If we can pull this off, ropes, chains, and other things such as cables would be much more safe. Power lines about to break could be noticed and fixed before harming anyone or causing a blackout.

Same as Henry, I think with a simple device that magnifies the mechanophore, military operations with ropes would be safer, we don't want our soldiers to have their ropes break, do we. It could make skydiving more safe also, because then you would know when your parachute was about to break, and tell a friend you are skydiving with in midair, and they'll just hold onto you. Also same as Henry we could use this device on power lines. Another use for it would be bungee jumping, so you could test the rope before you jumped, just to make sure you would be okay.

Wow, that's amazing! I agree with Henry and Ryan that you could put the mechanophore on power lines. I bet that could prevent a lot of accidents. The idea they had to put it in building materials could be useful too, if only we could get around the problem with bright sunlight.

This could be really useful for us. This saves so many lives, and I hope scientists will be able to find a way for materials in structures to turn red if they are about to break.
