This was a cool article. It helped me see how hard it actually is to make gas. If we couldn't find a new way of making gas then we would continue to burn coal and fossil fuels. I find that they could have provided more on how the cows and termites brake up the substances in the grain or logs and wood.
I like the idea of ethanol replacing fossil fuels. It seems like a good way to help our environment. I don't think that the warming of today is going to be a problem tomorrow but it is nice to cool the climate slightly in case I am wrong.

That is a cool fact.If we find some cheap way to break down cellulose and produce ethanol, e could help global warming and gas taxes at the same time!

I pretty much agree with Lena. But i think we still need to use some fossil fuels. It would be kinda cool to build a processing plant that works like a cow's stomach. What if the garbage trucks had a system that when they pick up the green cans they start breaking down the cellulose. By the time they get to where they have to be emptied they already converted all the wood, leaves, and grass into ethanol. This plan might save a lot of money for our economy. And it sounds very energy efficient. When you find a termite don't kill it instead make ethanol. Help the world one microbe at a time. Overall, I thought this article was interesting and a great way to learn about enzymes.

I don't like this idea. It involves killing termites and cows, which is just like hunting. I think they could just use simpler substances like water. It grosses me out to think that we could be using termite guts as fuel.

how interesting. using the termites might reduce the amount of destruction and increase the amount of ethanol! I don't agree with laura about the cows' stomachs. Cows are supposed to be sweet (yet really dumb). the jungle rot idea is also kinda cool. Daniel, what are you talking about! Termites DAMAGE homes that could otherwise be restored! get the termites! Although you're right, termite guts are cool. But I have a question for all of you. when is alexis going to take over the blogs? anyway, the article was just the way I like articles. not too short, but not too long, not too complicated, yet still full of details.
