This was interesting, though I find that Whitton and Dyer were stupid to create this hoax. If they knew that scientists would analyze the "body", and find it was made of rubber, I bet they wouldn't have tried to create this hoax.
Wow, that just goes to show you that you can't believe everything you hear. It's interesting how there was evidence that contradicted other evidence. One person said that he touched it and it was genuine, but the other person felt the foot and it was rubber. Maybe the first man was paid to say that it was real. After all, he was showing pictures to the public for $2 a piece.
I had heard of something like this a couple months ago when people supposedly "found" Bigfoot's body. However, it turned out to be a rubber gorilla suit. This was a little more interesting and I am confused why people try to do things like this and get in trouble and also why investigators and scientists care so much.
Like nathan, ive seen multiple accounts of bigfoot fakes. only a couple of months ago, i heard on the news that the famous video of bigfoot walking in the woods was a man in a suit. i find this article very interesting, and also like what Bea said, why do people do this? to get publicity? for money??
I agree with Alexis and Ruby, it is interesting, but do you think that they also do it for something besides money. Perhaps these people just want people to believe them and actually consider their ideas. But of course, money is also a nice bonus.
This was probably the WORST hoax you could pull off. C'mon, a rubber Bigfoot. The people who do these usually have nothing else to do. When it started thawing and everything came apart, that was a flaw in the hoax.
Apparently people want money and publicity. Cmon, what other reason would they have? There was nothing good on tv? If they really wanted money and publicity they should have made the suit a little better.
I really fouund this article riveting. But what I found to be weird is that Whitton and Dyer created a really bad hoax. I also really found their evidence to convict this hoax really cool! And for all just to show to the public $2 each.
What the heck? Who has that much spare time on their hands to do something like creating a hoax about big foot's body? And did they think that scientists wouldn't investigate it and figure out that it was nothing but an immature hoax? THink about the people that spent a good amount of time investigating to find out that it was all a joke in the end. IF it was me, I would be pretty upset. who would do that just to get money and publicity? wow...
I can't believe it! Those stupid Georgia residents actually thought that a big rubber ape costume was big foot! Everybody knows that big foot isn't real. They actually tried to pull off that hoax, it amazes me how stupid that was. I mean it was made of rubber. They didn't even know that the scientists would check the body thoroughly. Didn't they realize that they are dealing with professionals!?! What is seriously going on in their minds? While I look down the lists of other comments, I see that there are a couple of comments that are somewhat similar, especially the comments by Alexis and Parsa. I agree with them.
That was very interesting!! Even though they thought they actually found the Bigfoot Body they actually found a rubber ape costume instead! That means you can't always be sure about what you find!!!
We agree with everyone who has commented so far, that that was a stupid hoax to try to pull off, because who would even WANT to believe that there was actually a real big foot out there. LAME!!! We could even come up with something better than that. If there is a bigfoot out there, it would probably be an early hominid that was just oversized!
Wow, that's a good April fools joke. I might use it sometime. But I also think it was mean. I think that it is interesting that the investigators were able to analyze all the evidence to figure out that the foot was a hoax. And its not smart to do that all just to show pictures to the public for $2 each.
That was a pretty interesting blog. I can't believe that people actually tried to make a hoax. The scientists would have found out that it was rubber and I can't believe that Whitton and Dyer tried to make a hoax, they probably know that they are going to get into trouble after. They also made a big flaw by telling the scientists that it was them.

That guy is really a annoying personality that should leave the world of science to people who know what they are doing and do not figure out that the "scientific" subject that they are investigating is a frozen plastic suit. I believe that science is science, not a playground.
Can't scientists see that bigfoot probably never lived. And when they find his body, or evidence that he lived, it is probably just a hoax. And on the other side, wouldn't Whitton and Dyer know that Scientists would find out??? It is not very likely that anyone would find bigfoot, nessie, or a UFO.
WOW! So scientists finally found out the truth about big foot! I can't believe Whitton and Dyer actually thought about making the hoax. Publicity seems like everyone needs it now.
I think that it is so totally stupid that Whitton and Dyer did that. To fake something when people actually want to know the truth. I think that they didn't think about after the rest of the people found out it was a hoax they just wanted people to notice them and wanted to be famous! Just the same there have been a lot of Big Foot fakes so I would have investigated it first and made sure that it was real.
I can't believe 2 guys would create a hoax just to think they could make history. Thankfully they admitted to their false finding when the scientists found that this "big foot" was just a rubber costume. I hope that if Whitton and Dyer were smart enough, they would stop making new "discoveries".
All I took away from this article was that whitton and dyer are idiots. No, scratch that, they are Huge idiots, and they must have been desperate for the money. but i don't feel sorry for them because they were too stupid to think the whole thing out first. I mean, you gotta wonder...how stupid does someone have to be to figure that scientists are going to let the whole thing go unchecked. or maybe they thought everything would go just like with Piltdown man, not checked until years later.

Exactly, Gwen! I totally agree.

You really thought that was all I would say??
Anyways, yes, these guys are idiots, and why'd they do it if they KNEW they were going to get caught? Scientists aren't that dumb... or are they?
