That is kind of creepy. It shows what damage we can do to ourselves by trying to protect large areas that simply should not have human inhabitants. New Orleans should just be evacuated (if Gustav and the other two storms have passed and has been considered safe and everybody has come back) and build New Orleans (or New New Orleans) somewhere else.

Gee, I never knew that humans had such a huge part in disasters. Now that I think about it, things are what humans call them. Before humans, hurricanes wouldn't of had a name. Whoa, this is confusing! It is also sad that hundreds of peoples lives are in danger by, not the "natural disasters", but themselves. This IS creepy!

I agree with Alexis, it is creepy that WE are the ones calling them natural disasters, even though they're just the way nature works. I think that everyone should just abandon New Orleans and find some place else to go. Why would anyone want to live in a city that they know is going to flood sooner or later. I think anyone who decides to live there is NOT making a good decision. They're putting their LIVES at risk!! For heaven's sake, just move and abandon New Orleans, because you know it's going to flood sooner or later! I think the government should stop wasting money on levees and order a permanent evacuation as soon as possible, because they are putting lives at stake and wasting their money on walls that just crumble (most of the time anyways) when a hurricane comes. I would never live in New Orleans, too much destruction and panic.

This interests me. It was horrifying to see a picture of the island before and after the hurricane hit. I also think that Katrina could have been much more devastating after Gustav destroyed most of the wetlands.

this is really cool. the (hi, it's alexis. excuse me for interrupting. go on.) even cooler thing is how they predicted that a big hurricane was coming in new orleans. this is also a really creepy article. it made me feel like i was in danger.

Ha! I made Bea do that. I do agree with anyone who feels like what happens is creepy: including myself. :) TeeHee. I saw this article on AOL about someone who made their house "hurricane proof". It actually worked!!! Imagine destroyed land with the radius of about five miles and then imagine a perfect yellow house that was undamaged in the middle of all that! That's what it looked like. It was considered a hoax until the owner's sister said that it was their house. All those hurricanes also left a bunch of people and animals dead, injured or starved. (Maybe some in good condition.)

i think that new orleans has already had lots of storms, and that the u.s. should just rebuild the city above sea level, so that the water won't go into the city

Man, New Orleans has taken serious damge from hurricanes recently. I do think that New Orleans should build the biggest levees as possible. I think that because they would not want their whole city flooded and destroyed. But I don't understand why so many hurricanes hit New Orleans. Are they in a danger zone, or is it just they are unlucky.

Hi Alexis. I saw that too. My grandpa was watching something and all of a sudden...that picture was there of a house sitting perfectly while the whole town was destroyed.
